The County of Santa Clara, CA Selects Era for Multilateration Flight Tracking and Noise Monitoring System

RESTON, VA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 10/01/07 -- The County of Santa Clara, CA has selected Era Corporation to install its noise and operations management system, AirScene.com NOMS, integrated with its proven multilateration flight tracking solution, MSS by Era. The County's Reid Hillview Airport will make use of Era's highly accurate flight tracking capabilities and noise monitoring system.

Reid Hillview Airport, the largest of the three County owned and operated airports, is experiencing a period of growth and renovation. Airport officials realized the increasing need for a high-performance surveillance solution capable of flight tracking and noise monitoring to mitigate the effects of aircraft noise on the surrounding community. The scalability of Era's system will enable future expansion of the NOMS to the other two County Airports.

"We are excited about the next generation flight tracking capabilities that Era's ADS-B and multilateration technology offer to Santa Clara County and other Bay Area Airports," said Ken Betts from Santa Clara.

Era is currently the only NOMS provider that uses integrated multilateration surveillance. Multilateration provides enormous benefits over traditional radar, such as higher update rates, lower operation costs, better coverage and higher accuracy. Era's solution for the County of Santa Clara will create accurate flight tracking down to the airport's surface. Additionally, the system will include a fully redundant data center to ensure data availability.

"We are proud to have been selected by the County of Santa Clara -- it shows growing confidence in integrated multilateration NOMS technology," said Bill Colligan, Era's VP and General Manager, Airport Operations Solutions. "AirScene.com NOMS is entirely web-based, allowing for the advantage of quick installation, reduced hardware costs, faster service and support, increased reliability and greater availability."

Santa Clara's selection of Era marks the second Era multilateration NOMS system chosen in California this year.
